Why choose Medical Technology as a career

If you are interested in the medical field it can be confusing as to what path you want to go in, but no matter what you end up deciding, one thing is for sure, you will not have a difficult time finding a job after graduation.

Medical Technology is an under-rated career path in the medical field. It entails of laboratory work but you can also branch out and work in forensics, veterinary clinics, or instrument sales! There are about 5000 students who graduate with medical technology degrees in the US and about 15,000 job openings ! I was recently at a meeting with lab managers and students were invited to attend the meeting, at this meeting I received 4 job offers alone and I haven't even graduated yet ! They need people in the lab now more than ever especially since the baby boomer generation will be retiring very soon.

If you are someone who is interested in the medical field but is unsure what direction to go in, I would recommend you use this path as a back bone and stepping stone. It will provide you with an excellent background in medicine and clinical practices that apply to all parts of the medical world. Many students who go through this program will go on to physician assistant or medical school and find that graduate medical programs are much easier for them because of their back ground in clinical laboratory sciences.
